I meant if someone stays "underground"....then they dont make as much $$ as the Lame Commerical Rapper these days...SO, if you want MORE exposure...Then you will have to be Commericalized sooner or later... Look what happen w/ Green Day!...they were Underground Punk band..They knew that they would have to be Commercialized to make it in the industry of music.

| In my opinion, good music, whether it be Hip hop, rock, etc. can only stay underground for so long. Especially nowadays with the internet, there's very few true underground artists like in the pre-internet era. | |

| OK, I can understand what everyone saying BUT you guys make it sound like going mainstream is a bad thing. Yes, there are a lot of bad rappers out there that have made it big but w/e, oh well. some people just need top hating and just listen to what you want to listen to. If radio stations played mainly "underground rap", that station or the artists they play wouldn't last very long. Also, I'm pretty sure those underground rappers wouldn't mind going mainstream. | |

I dunno, ICP is more about face painting, spraying root beer at people then actually known for lyrics i think like josh said they are far from being underground hip-hop

very very very true....some very good examples of this is happening over at MTV....guess who they play now? Atmosphere, Murs, Cage, Etc.....there kinda goin mainstream now. but i think what it boils down to is not whether or not there mainstream or underground but the lyric content and what each individual has to express...like i said earlier, anyone could write about bitches and hoes, money and cars....it takes a true lyricist to flow about life off the top of the dome....

| I think there are mainstream rappers out there that can still rap. I think when it comes to commercial they gotta put out some "gurly girl" song so that people will pick up the album. For example, everyone knows that TI can rap but he also knows the game. He also does underground stuff with DJ's as well. | |

| ICP KEEPS IT REAL 6 ALBUMS AND COUNTING HAVE EITHER GONE GOLD OR PLATINUM 17 YRS IN THE UNDERGROUND AND THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF STOPPIN. THEY DON'T HAVE TO RAP ABOUT THE TYPICAL BS LIKE HOW MANY CARS THEY OWN OR HOW MANY WOMEN THEY HAVE BEEN WITH HOW MAN PEOPLE THEY SHOT OR HOW MUCH MONEY THEY GOT. NOONE NEEDS TO KNOW ANY OF THAT. ASIDE FROM THE FACE PAINTIN AND FAYGO BOMBS, GO TO A SHOW AND YOU WILL SEE TRY TALKIN MAINSTREAM AROUND THE JUGGALOS THEY WILL TELL YOU... | |

F T M F W! But yea icp is far from underground hip hop. go listen up on De La soul, J-dilla, slum village, wu tang, living legends, cunninglinguists, gang starr, hieroglyphics, mf doom, j5 etc... and then well talk i think a perfect example of a good balance of fame and street cred is Nas. the man is a legend in the dungeons of hip hop yet he makes vma appearances and kills it. dont get me wrongi do enjoy a dose of mainstreamness every once in a while, but as stated in an earlier post, just listen to what you find pleasing.i dunno just imho; my 2 cents
