| since the "man" decided to get me last month. I decided to remove my fujita intake and JIC exhaust. Now I need to figure out a way to regain some points in the engine. Any suggestions to keep me legal because I cant afford to keep paying tickets. hahahaha | |

if you don't pop your hood the cop can tow your car on the spot. and arrest you they normally wont but they can I've always had the idea of making oem looking engine covers lke that of a lexus or infiniti covering most everything under the hood.

| they cant arrest you, but they can tow the car, but then they have to wait to get a warrent, and then if theirs nothing their, its their ass on the line. like i said we've been through this tons of times, their was a post with the vehicle codes on the other forum saying you dont have too....if you've been arrested before just becuase you didnt pop your hood then the cop better have had a damn good reason other than "modification", or you could have had a violated constitutional right suit. but no matter. like i said, just put the trd stuff, and a header on kirby. | |

Actually, when a veicle is towed, an inventory is conducted on the vehicle for the tow. So the hood will be popped. A vehicle can be held as Evidence for more than 30 days. The quickest I've been to court for a ticket I issued was around 60 days. The courts are clogged out here, and the vehicle will be held til released upon judication. And in actually, the Police can inspect your vehicle once its upon the roadway. Did you know I could tow yor car as being unsafe if its missing one of the lugnuts? Its required equipment for safety. How do I know all of this? I've been an Oakland Police Officer, in Patrol, for 15 years. Yes, Oakland. Did you know you can get a ticket for having sunglasses that don't follow the specifications outlined in the vehicle code? Did you know if you bought a vehicle that was previously used as a school bus and is still yellow, that's a violation? That 3 inch book gives me more than enough probable cause to write any ticket I want, and tow your vehicle should I deem it necessary according to the letter of the law.

| isnt the cali vehicle code just such BS! lol. my teachings come from a retired sheriff so maybe things have changed a lil lol. ill still fight tooth and nail, becuase i can lol. and i know damn well my modified car is more effiecient than it was stock, and that is a fact. most cops i dont mind, its the ones that pick on us enthusiests becuase its usually an easy ticket, i could drive by a cop in my box and accidently be a lil loud, and get popped for various things, but if i did the same exact thing, same place, same cop, in my ranchero, he wouldnt even notice me, and its a bit louder. the classics may not have smog loaws, but almost 90% of them break more vehicle code laws than we do, i know i work on all the time lol, frame lower than the rim, excessively noisy exhaust, head/tail light mods, no mirrors. that kinda stuff, its just annoying, *sigh* owel as long as i live in california i cant complain i guess.
no offense or anything, but why is one of your duties pulling over and "inspecting" a car for modifications? and if its not, then your not being obstructed if i deny to pop my hood are you? agian, not saying to you squirel, just making a generalisation, and would like to know.

| Law Enforcement trends follow society.
I've had imports, heavily modified since 1981. I had 2 1976 Toyota Celica GT Liftbacks. Both were set-up for auto-x and Solo I.
One had an 18RG swap, and one had the typical of the day 22RC block/20RC head set-up.
Once FnF was released, it exposed the import scene. Both in a positive light and negatively.
Remember when it was cool to ahve a lifted 4x4. they were targeted for height restrcitions, tire widths, lighting, bumper heights, etc..........
Its whatever the flavor of the month is.
Oakland had its fair share of illegal drags, motorcycle stunters, muffler whistle tips, and the ever present side shows. Believe it or not, "donks" fall within the regulations and rules of the Vehicle Code.
Knuckleheads who had no idea, thought what they saw in the movies was gospel.
Idiots start doing things they see in the movies, and it begins to draw unwarranted attention. Yes, its stereo-typical.
Don't forget, cars released by manufacturers had to follow guidelines for safety and have to meet stringent requirements for safety, emissions, yada yada yada......
All powerplants can be made to be more efficient, more hp, etc, but the government dictates otherwise.
Not too bad mouth Sheriff duties, as compared to a municipal Police Officer, but the main duties of Deputies is court room protection, prisoner escort/transportation, and jail duites. Police Officers as myself deal more w/ the vehicle code and penal code than they do. CHP is mainly traffic safety.
In any given shift I can handle a shooting, stabbing, car chase, burglaries, domestic etc....the whole gambit of laws.
It depends on the type person the law enforcement person is.
Some prefer to be proficient and study such things as the Vehicle Code and/or Penal Code to be effective. Others just do what they can to get by.
Some are cool and chill, others were picked on in school, and this is their way of showing they're no wimp.
There are good and bad in every aspect of life and unfortunately, only the bad is remembered.
My xB is a rolling violation of the Vehicle Code. You should hear some of the tongue lashings I get when pulled over by others. I'm prolly more the exception to the rule than most.
I'm an enthusiast, I'm into R&D and fabrication, and am a Police Officer.
Ask anyone who knows me, and they'll tell you I'm not like most you'll ever run into.
Just trying to give another perspective...........that's all.
