SoCal Scion “What is Scion Night at Knott’s Halloween Haunt?”
Scion would like to recognize and thank our enthusiastic owners by hosting the largest Scion event in the world. It’s a gathering of thousands of Scions, some mild, some wild, but all ready to have a good time at the biggest, best Halloween event in the U.S. Scion is hooking you up with the full run of the park for the first 12,000 Scion owners and their guests. ONLY Scion owners and guests are eligible for this special night! There are fun Scion activities in the parking lot before the park opens, and once it does open there are no lines for the rides, no overwhelming crowds, and best of all, you are with your fellow Scion owners. Did we mention no overwhelming crowds?
“Do I have to be in a Scion club to attend?”
ALL Scion owners and their legally belted-in passengers are invited! Club membership is not required, but many clubs with different personalities and interests will be represented if you are interested in learning more about membership. It is that which makes us different that brings us together, so stop by and say hello! Active duty Service Members (regardless of vehicle) are invited as well.
“What time should I show up?”
The Knott’s parking lot officially opens at 3PM. If you want to get into the Knott’s parking lot a few hours early, be a part of the Caravan. We’ll be at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale starting at 9 AM, and we’re leaving for Knott’s at 12 PM. If you don’t want to be a part of the Caravan, you can get into the Knott’s parking lot beginning at 3 PM. DO NOT CIRCLE KNOTT’S BEFORE 3 PM WAITING TO GET INTO THE PARKING LOT. The main gates to get inside the park will open around 6 PM.
“Can I buy a ticket? Am I guaranteed a ticket?”
This is a PRIVATE event. That means sorry, you can’t buy tickets. Step One: show up in a Scion. Step Two: everyone in your Scion who is legally belted-in receives a ticket with a toy donation, while supplies last. We have 12,000 tickets. That’s a lot of tickets. It is first come, first served (with a toy donation). We CANNOT predict when we will run out of tickets. In some years we have had fewer tickets and have run out of by 5 PM, but last year when we first had a private event, some people were still getting in after 7 PM. Although we have the same amount of tickets this year as we did last year, we do not recommend arriving at 9 PM expecting to get a ticket. If you absolutely, positively must guarantee yourself a ticket, participate in the Caravan. If you don’t get a ticket or don’t want to bring a toy, you can still enjoy the parking lot festivities from 3-6:30 PM.
“Can I save some tickets for my friend who is working late?”
Sorry, Scion Night is first come, first served, with one ticket per person. We are unable to accommodate multiple ticket requests. Saying "I need 1.. 2..30 extra tickets for my buddies who aren't here but I think might be getting here later" will not work. That is not fair to the people who show up on time.
“I’m in the Military, but I don’t own a Scion yet. Can I come?”
Yes, you are our honored guests! Active Duty Military can show their valid ID card at the entrance to the Knott’s parking lot, regardless of the brand of vehicle. You and your legally belted-in passengers will receive a ticket with a toy donation, while supplies last. If you want to secure tickets ahead of time, email us at
socalscion@scion.com for details about receiving tickets on base.
“Tell me about the Toys for Tots donation.”
One of the best things about Scion Night is the open friendliness of the Scion community, and we want to share some of that positive spirit with those in need. In exchange for a ticket, we are asking everyone to donate an unwrapped $10 TOY to be donated to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program. Yes, EVERYONE must bring a toy, including drivers, people who “forgot”, and everyone in between. There is a Wal-Mart down the street if you need to buy a toy.
We will be collecting the toys in the Knott’s parking lot. We will be distributing the tickets in the Knott’s parking lot as well.
“What’s this about a Caravan? Did you say Guinness World Record™?”
The Caravan is NOT mandatory, but if you would like to make Scion history and be a part of a Guinness World Record™, come join us at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale. Being part of the Caravan allows you to prepay your parking, get into the Knott’s parking lot before everyone else, and get a prime parking spot. Since you are one of the first of the 12,000 you have first shot at exchanging your toy for a ticket.
You can start gathering at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale as early as 9 AM. We will organize the Caravan, review details, and then leave promptly at NOON. Since this is a Guinness World Record™ attempt, we will be asking everyone to follow specific, detailed instructions. Don’t expect to show up at 11:59 AM and be part of the Caravan. There are several waivers to sign and maps to review. Give yourself some time.
The Caravan essentially guarantees you a ticket since you are getting to Knott’s first, but if you can’t make the Caravan, all is not lost. We are not giving out every single ticket at the Caravan. You can still get a ticket by showing up in a Scion at Knott’s beginning at 3 PM with your toy, while the tickets last.
If you are participating in the Caravan, please remember that tickets are one per person and will be distributed first come, first served once we arrive at the Knott’s parking lot. You cannot save tickets for your friends arriving later. You are only securing tickets for those people in your car who are participating in the entire Caravan from beginning to end as a driver or passenger.
“What goes on in the Knott’s parking lot? Is there a car show?”
Instead of a car show that recognizes only a few individuals, we’re opening it up a bit to involve and entertain EVERYONE with some other entertainment and activities. There will also be vendors, games, activities, and a few surprises waiting for you…..
Interested in hosting an activity? Check out the related FAQ.
“Do I need to bring any money? How much is parking?”
Bring money for concessions, games, parking ($15), etc.
“Will there be food and drinks?”
Knott’s will have vendors in the parking lot selling refreshments. If you are at the Caravan, the Grilled Cheese Truck will be selling (what else?) grilled cheese at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale until 11:45 AM.
“Will there be special entertainment inside of the park?”
You’ll have to come to Scion Night to find out!
“What else?”
This is a fun event for a lot of people. Let’s all do our part to make sure that happens. One ticket per person. Getting more than one ticket per person, ticket scalping, reckless behavior, drugs, or intoxication will not be tolerated and you will be asked to leave.
